The Challenge is a training provider on team-building, problem-solving, communication, inter-cultural learning, group-dynamics and leadership since the year 2000.The philosophical stance of the Challenge lies within Social-Constructivism and Positive Psychology and it works mainly by the methodology of Experiential Learning, Inter-Cultural Learning and other informal working methods. The Challenge has experience of training and working with companies in the private sector, state- and municipal institutions and with associations and organizations working with youth and youth-at-risk.
Members of the Challenge have several years of experience working in the youth field, developing projects and therapy for disadvantaged young people such as:
- Total Counseling, 2001 – a holistic counseling centre for young people ;
- The Highlanders 1989-2008 – a wilderness therapy for youth at risk,
- The Explorer 1995-2000 – 6 month unemployment projects for youth (18-25yrs),
- The Bridge (between cultures) 1999-2005 – a integration and adaptation project for new Icelanders (immigrants), etc.
- The Challenge has members in the Pool of Trainers of the EU and the European Parlament, that have participated in European trainings since 1995.
- The Challenge cooperates with Outward Bound Associations and other training providers of Experiential Learning across Europe.
